Warm Reception

I was on my way somewhere earlier today which led me to cross the causeway over the northeast end of Geist Reservoir, and thought the view there captured above was worth stopping for. I couldn’t decide what was more beautiful…the frozen surface of the lake stretching to the horizon, or the dozens of immense clouds floating like giant zeppelins everywhere, back-lit by the Sun with the deep-blue backdrop. It was great to finally feel

Something Colorful

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by Richard. Categories: Nature, Photo Flash.

The temps have warmed and the snow pack is receding but it’s still kind of overcast and dull outside. So I just felt like seeing something colorful and alive to balance that out. I took this photo last summer and have been saving it in a special folder with others that I’m also attached to for some reason. I thought the timing seemed right now to take it out for a spin. I’m

A Short Story

Posted on February 13th, 2010 by Richard. Categories: Nature, Photo Flash.

Just something about this one. More than a photo, to me it’s really a short story about what was happening then. Chosen because I liked the simplicity of colors, shapes and contrast…and the way the sun, even though partially obscured itself, still irrepressibly illuminates the background. Usually I don’t know until I discover the results afterwards, but occasionally I know when I take it, like this time, that it’s probably going to be one that I like.

Summer Dream

I figure we all deserve this photo with all the snow and cold weather lately. So put down the snow shovel and take off your hat and gloves. Instead come and sit down and relax on the patio here a while with a glass of lemonade. It’s a warm one today!

I took this shot last summer when I was with some customers viewing a home. It was so pretty and had a great feel to it.

Quick Change Artistry

At times the wind drove the flakes nearly sideways today and everything was quickly blanketed with a coating of heavy, wet snow. To me it was a great gift for us all, especially for the eyes. Gazing through the woods, the trees were transformed into a fast-frozen winter wonderland. One thing that was unusual…sometimes the wind caused unique patterns to be created…like one side of a pine tree could be matted and laden with a thick white cover,

Winterscape

There’s not much to add about this view of the New York Street bridge at White River. It tells the whole story. Chosen because I liked the contrasts between the dark sky and sunshine, the contoured edges of the ice flow and the reflection of the bridge on the water’s surface.

Going With It

With the warming trend the last few days, I was finally inspired to take the last of the holiday lights off the bushes that had been cemented in under a thick crust of ice. The last remnants of the snow storms are almost gone. You never know in Indiana though. It could get ridiculously cold several more times…or head into a mild weather pattern for a couple months. After a lifetime of experiencing the weather in Indiana, I’ve
