Shoe Dat

Posted on January 29th, 2010 by Richard. Categories: Just for Fun, Sports & Recreation.

The Saints fans have their “Who Dat?” thing going in New Orleans. That’s cool I guess. Whatever gets them going. But I’ve asked around and Googled my fingers off trying to figure it out. Does anybody really understand what that means? I’d like to know. Regardless…the obvious answer to the question ”Who Dat?” from an Indy perspective is…Blue Shoe, Dats Who.

I took this photo in the grand lobby of Lucas Oil Stadium. A projector

One win away

Posted on January 24th, 2010 by Richard. Categories: Community Feature, Sports & Recreation.

Normally I’d refrain from two posts in a row that had a similar subject, but this is special circumstances. With the win today, the Colts are the AFC Champions and will be competing in the Superbowl in two weeks. That’s quite an accomplishment in itself for any team, but I know they won’t be satisfied with just going there. They want to bring home the Lombardi Trophy and NFL Championship banner.

There’s no way the little

Colt’s secret weapon revealed

Posted on January 23rd, 2010 by Richard. Categories: Just for Fun, Sports & Recreation.

To shore up the middle of the defensive line for the remainder of the Playoffs, the Colts announced a stunning three player trade this week that sent two Indy second-round draft players to Buffalo in exchange for their goliath Defensive Tackle, Otto Blimponski who astoundingly had gone unnoticed by almost everyone on their practice squad. Coach Jim Caldwell said, “Otto should help us in a big way to stop the run, allowing us then to put

City in the Clouds

Posted on January 16th, 2010 by Richard. Categories: Community Feature, Sports & Recreation.

The cityscape looked mysteriously beautiful as the skyline blended into the heavens today in a thick, low, cloud-like fog that blocked out the morning sun. The sky has more often been grey than blue lately, which is typical this time of year. But this morning was one of the most dramatic displays I’ve seen.

Lucas Oil stadium also had a calm, sleepy look about it in the morning mist. But there is just too much energy and excitement  in

Victory Field

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 by Richard. Categories: Community Feature, Sports & Recreation.

I always thought that Victory Field was a great name for a ballpark. When this new one was built in it’s present location a few year ago, it’s good that they didn’t change that. The things that did change were all for the better. It has a wonderful location now in the heart of the White River State Park area downtown, and is truly a marvelous facility. Just recently Indianapolis hosted

Fieldhouse

Posted on November 30th, 2009 by Richard. Categories: Downtown, Sports & Recreation.

Conseco Fieldhouse sits idle but still brightly lit on this cold November night as the Pacers travel out west on a four game road trip. The Pacers are playing the Golden State Warriors tonight, followed by the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, the Utah Jazz on Friday and the LA Clippers on Saturday. The Pacers finally have almost all their players healthy, and are eager to try their full rotations. The road is a difficult place

Game of the Year?

Posted on November 15th, 2009 by Richard. Categories: Entertainment, Sports & Recreation.

This place is going to be humming tonight. If you have been listening to the radio, watching television or reading the newspapers lately, you would think that the Playoff Finals or the Superbowl was today. But nope…just game nine out of sixteen…New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts home, Lucas Oil Stadium. It’s a semi-important game because it’s an AFC matchup and it could possibly have playoff implications…but clearly though, the hype
